In several countries of South Tyrol with the term Pfleger or Pflegerhof a building is identified, usually close to a fortress or a ruin, it is a small residence that once served to house the castle staff and servants.

Pflegerhof is the name of the Maso that stands near the Rovereto castle and probably dates back to the twelfth century, if there are written traces starting from 1715.

Since 1980, the Mulser family has chosen to run the Pflegerhof farm with character organic and since 1982 Martha Mulser he cultivates his herbs with passion and dedication. From a small mountain farm with cows, goats and sheep over the years the Pflegerhof farm has turned into a paradise
officinal.

It all started in 1982 with the cultivation of a first field of 100 square meters. In 1990 a dryer was purchased, because the dehydration of large quantities of herbs could no longer be carried out with the method used previously.

In 1992 the farmers' market in Castelrotto was inaugurated and Martha started a
sell her herbs. In 1994 Richard, Martha's husband falls ill and unfortunately dies and with him the main source of income of the family is lost. Martha thinks of leaving organic cultivation, she has four children to support and the income from the sale of medicinal herbs is not enough.

A solidarity chain is set in motion and so many people help Martha and her family.

In 1995 the botanical garden was finished, started by Richard, with 300 different plants, medicinal and aromatic e it has been accessible to the public since 2009.

In 2000 a new law obliges to keep the rooms for dehydration, storage and processing separate. To comply with the new regulations, the house is enlarged and a dehumidifying system is purchased, which allows for better drying.

In the same year, Cornelia, Martha's daughter, after training as a gardener and various work experiences, began selling newborn seedlings.

Alongside about 500 different species of seedlings, you can also buy succulents, Cornelia is in fact passionate about cacti.

In 2002 Martha was nominated "South Tyrolean of the year". In 2004 she starts to write his book: "The secrets of my medicinal garden", which is published
in the same year.

In 2003 a heatable greenhouse was built and a machine was purchased to cut herbs and a defoliator to separate the stems from the leaves.

In this way the harvest is faster and the active ingredients of the herbs are preserved more.

In 2008 some clarge are terraced, so the work becomes easier. Terracing of all land ends in 2010.

In 2009, another cold packing greenhouse was built.

In 2012 the shop was built in the company.

Today, thanks to Cornelia's knowledge and specialization, the cultivation and sale of medicinal plants has become an important source of income. Alongside this activity, around 80 different plant varieties are used to obtain teas, spices, spice mixtures, herb cushions, juices and syrups, the all on 2 hectares of fields.

Slowly Pflegerhof has become South Tyrol's largest plant company officinalis. Pflegerhof products are highly appreciated and sought after for their quality and sold in the best shops.
