100% Malvasia Moscata from the Santa Brigida Hill, 580 meters above sea level facing Monviso – Independent Winemakers
Jasmine, hawthorn, and white peach in a straw-yellow glass: an aromatic mountain white wine to be enjoyed at 8 degrees, with a smile.

There's a moment on the Santa Brigida hill when the late afternoon sun warms the southwest-facing rows of vines, while the cold evening air already descends from the Alps. That temperature swing, which is strong and daily at 580 meters above sea level, gives rise to the character of the Brigit BiancA Pinerolese DOC Malvasia produced by Alex and Andrea Dellerba using only Malvasia Moscata, the aromatic Piedmontese grape that preserves its aromas intact in these sandy, mineral soils. The name simply means "White Brigida," the pale face of the hill where the brothers reborn the family winery. The grapes are hand-harvested in early September, destemmed and gently pressed, and fermented at a low temperature of 15°C in stainless steel, where the wine remains until bottling: no oak, no forcing, just the aroma of the grapes brought to the glass. It's a young, ready-to-drink white, smooth and refreshing at the same time. It should be opened within two years of harvest and served very chilled, as an aperitif or with light meals. The back of the bottle bears the Vignaioli Indipendenti seal: its grapes are grown on the estate, vinified and bottled on the estate.
Few grapes have a name with such a long history. "Malvasia" comes from Monemvasia, the fortress-port in the Peloponnese from which, in the Middle Ages, Venetian merchants shipped sweet, fragrant Aegean wines destined for the courts of Europe. In Venice, the taverns that sold them were simply called "malvasie," and the word came to refer to an entire family of aromatic grape varieties spread throughout the Mediterranean. In Piedmont, Malvasia has taken its own path: alongside the black Malvasias of Monferrato, famous for the sweet reds of Casorzo and Castelnuovo Don Bosco, a rare Malvasia has survived. Malvasia Moscata A white grape, intensely fragrant, grown in small quantities between the Pinerolo and Saluzzo areas. Here, at the foot of the valleys once occupied by the Waldensians and the Princes of Acaja, mountain viticulture is as ancient as Pinerolo itself, and since 1996 it has been protected by the Pinerolese DOC appellation, one of the smallest in Piedmont and among the richest in native grape varieties. Brigit Bianc is the way two young winemakers tell this age-old story today: in a chilled glass, scented with flowers.
The freshness of this wine isn't just in the glass. The Dellerba winery cultivates its vineyards organically, certified by the CCPB organization, and with a philosophy that prioritizes the life of the soil: manure from Piedmontese cows raised on the farm is the only fertilizer, invasive tillage is avoided so the soil can breathe and retain water, and the winery's energy comes from solar panels. low-temperature fermentation andrefinement in steel These are not just stylistic choices: they preserve the natural aromatic compounds of the grape, the terpenes that give Malvasia Moscata its floral and fruity aromas, without the need for corrections. The brand of Independent Winemakers It certifies that the person who grew the grapes is the same person who vinified and signed it: a supply chain that never leaves the hillside. A wine like this is best enjoyed with the lightness it deserves, in the measure of a single glass, chilled, in good company.
Visual examination. In the glass, Brigit Bianc presents a luminous straw yellow, with greenish reflections that betray the wine's youth and its fermentation in steel; it is clear and brilliant, of medium consistency, with light and rapid tears: a white that announces freshness even before being smelled.
Olfactory examination. The nose is the heart of this Malvasia. It opens with a bouquet of white flowers, jasmine and hawthorn in the foreground, with a sweet, honeyed note of acacia. Fruit follows immediately, with white peach and ripe apricot, and finally light nuances of honey and vanilla, which come not from the wood but from the grape itself and enrich the complexity of the aroma. It's an aromatic nose, immediate and clean, which improves further with a few minutes in the glass.
Taste test. On the palate the wine is soft and enveloping, with a balanced sweetness that caresses the entrance and a marked acidity, a product of the altitude and temperature changes, which immediately refreshes and cleanses the mouth. The sip is harmonious and pleasant, light-medium bodied, with a fruity and savory finish that features peach and floral notes and a hint of the minerality of the sandy soil. A white that invites a second glass without ever tiring.
The Brigit Bianc was born for theappetizer: chilled at 8°C, it accompanies appetizers, fresh cheeses and raw vegetables with its aroma that does not cover and its acidity that cleanses. At the table it prefers delicate appetizers, fish in all light preparations, from marinated anchovies to tuna, to raw fish and seafood salads, and the white meatChicken and rabbit are especially popular, especially when cooked with fruit or aromatic herbs. Its sweet note also makes it surprising with spicy cuisine and fresh goat cheeses, and a glass at the end of a meal, with a fruit tart, is a perfect end to a summer dinner. Always serve chilled, in tulip-shaped glasses that concentrate the aroma.
Dellerba is the winery owned by brothers Alex and Andrea on the Santa Brigida hill in Pinerolo. In 2012, they took over the family land: 5,4 hectares of vineyards, including Freisa, Favorita, Malvasia, and the rare grape varieties of the Pinerolo area, cultivated using certified organic methods. They also have orchards, pastures for Piedmontese cattle, and a farm with an educational farm. They are independent winemakers, with a cellar built into the rock, from which the spring water flows to keep the wines cool.
