The color of dawn on the sea: a rosé of substance, born from the sand and grown in the wood

Meigamma's Meigamma Rosé

Meigamma Rosato comes from the same small, native grape vineyard that produces Meigamma's reds: 1,1 hectares of Guyot-trained vineyards on sandy soil, just 500 meters from the sea, managed using only sulfur and copper, and hand-harvested in September. In the winery, the approach is that of a rosé with character: soft pressing, 12-hour maceration on the skins to extract color and structure, spontaneous fermentation with a pied de cuve of only wild yeasts, and an unusual aging in used barriques, which adds depth without overpowering the fruit. No filtration, no additives: a gastronomic rosé born from a particularly hot and dry vintage.

The roots of this Meigamma Rosato are deep in tradition

Few people remember it, but rosé is likely the oldest wine color: before the long macerations of modern winemaking, ancient Mediterranean wines were born from brief contact with the skins, and were clear, luminous, and a pale pink. On the islands and along the coasts, this tradition has never been interrupted: "one-night" wine, made by letting the must rest on the skins for just a few hours, has always accompanied the seafood dishes of peasant families and fishermen. Meigamma Rosato renews that tradition with its 12-hour maceration, adding the patience of aging in used oak: a bridge between the most ancient and the most contemporary rosé.

Choosing Meigamma Rosato means taking care of yourself

Choosing Meigamma Rosato means bringing to the table a simple, unfiltered wine free of oenological additives: only grapes from the vineyard and indigenous yeasts. The brief maceration on the skins imparts a portion of the grape's natural polyphenols to the wine, while spontaneous fermentation creates an authentic and digestible profile. With 76 kcal per 100 ml, zero fat, and just 0,1 g of declared sugar, it is a crisp and dry rosé, ideal for those seeking pleasure without heaviness. Any slight cloudiness or sediment on the bottom are a sign of its artisanal integrity. As with any wine, we recommend moderate and mindful consumption, in keeping with Mediterranean conviviality.

How to Best Use: Meigamma Rosato

  • THE SMOKED SEAFOOD TABLE: the structure provided by the exhausted barriques beautifully supports the smoky notes. Serve it with Organic Irish Smoked Salmon on toasted slices of semi-wholemeal country bread: the freshness of the rosé cleanses the palate from the elegant fattiness of the fish.
  • THE MEDITERRANEAN APERITIF WITH A VEGETABLE TWIST: at 11–13°C it gracefully accompanies the Organic Eggplant Babaganoush and croutons spread with the Organic Artichoke Cream: the marine flavor of the wine enhances the herbaceous notes and creaminess of the legumes.
  • THE SPRING CUTTING BOARD: Rosé is the wine for delicate platters. Pair it with Corallina Salami from Tuscia and Brie, a Tuscia flake: the crunchy fruit of the wine lightens the cured meat and enhances the aromatic note of the cheese.
