Signature Tuscan red from an unusual blend: Dolcetto, Ciliegiolo, Malvasia Nera and the very rare Pugnitello, 12% vol.
A new and fascinating Tuscany: minor and almost forgotten native varieties, brought back to life in the Majnoni Guicciardini vineyards
Il Tintero Rosso di Toscana IGT Organic 2024 of the Majnoni Guicciardini Farm is a courageous and original wine proposal in the Tuscan panorama: a red with good structure and great pleasantness, which takes you back to the Tuscan wines of ancient tradition, when the Sangiovese was one variety among many and the peasant vineyards were composed of numerous native varieties in a harmonious mixed field.blend is extraordinarily unusual: 60% sweet treat (rare variety in Tuscany, where it was historically present in some areas as a "domesticating" component), 15% Ciliegiolo (ancient Tuscan native with cherry aromas, the secret ingredient of the great reds of Maremma), 15% Black Malvasia (aromatic variety with a spicy character) and — above all — the very rare 10% Punch, native Tuscan variety almost extinct and recently rediscovered by the University of Florence in the early 2000s. The absence of the dominant Sangiovese is notable.: a choice that makes Tintero an “alternative” Tuscan winemaking expression, authentic and free from commercial canons. Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts and refinement in stainless steel to preserve the varietal fragrance and the fragrance of the vintage.
Il Inkwell print bar is a small, precious winemaking challenge: to give voice back to the minor native varieties of Tuscany, overshadowed for too long by the hegemony of Sangiovese. Until early nineteenth century, the Tuscan peasant vineyards were composed of dozens of different varieties grown in mixed fields (the famous “Tuscan blend” described by Baron Bettino Ricasoli in his formulation of Chianti in 1872), which included varieties that have almost disappeared today. Ciliegiolo (Vitis vinifera “ciliegiolo”) takes its name from its ripe cherry aromas and is a very ancient variety of the Tuscan Maremma and Tuscia Lazio, historically used as a softener for Sangiovese; today it has a rebirth also as a pure wine. Black Malvasia (red grape variety of the large Malvasia family) brings aromas and sweet spices. Punch is the big one oenological rediscovery early 21st century: variety almost extinct, survived in a few century-old vineyards, was identified and saved by the Department of Genetics of the University of Florence in the early 2000s. Its name comes from the small and compact bunch, “like a fist”, which gives the wine fine tannins, freshness and a characteristic spicy note. Dolcetto, although better known as a Piedmontese variety, has found a terroir of choice in some areas of Tuscany, contributing to the freshness and drinkability of the blend. Inkwell it is therefore a small manifesto of Tuscan wine biodiversity: every sip tells of a Tuscany far from clichés.
