What are Mostaccioli?

Mostaccioli are a typical dessert from Southern Italy, in particular from the Campania region.

These are diamond or rhombus-shaped biscuits, made with chopped almonds, flour, sugar, honey, cocoa and spices such as cinnamon and cloves.

Once all the ingredients have been mixed, a fairly compact mixture is obtained which is then cut and shaped in special molds before being cooked in the oven.

Mostaccioli are sweet with an intense flavour, thanks to the mix of spices and cocoa, and fragile to the bite.

They are usually eaten during the Christmas period, but it is also easy to find them in bars and pastry shops throughout the year.
