Dark fermented tea from Yunnan province, from ancient tea trees dating back centuries – soft and sweet taste, low in theine
A sip of ancient forest: moss, undergrowth and the patience of tea trees that have seen the passage of millennia

Les Jardins de Gaïa's Organic Pu'er Dark Tea is made from the fermented leaves of ancient tea trees from the Yunnan province of China, the historic birthplace of this beverage. Its infusion is smooth and enveloping, with a delicate and slightly sweet flavor, interwoven with the typical notes of moss and undergrowth that make pu'er unmistakable among all teas. Low in caffeine, it's the ideal companion throughout the day, from breakfast to dinner. The leaves come from the Canguan Yisheng specialized cooperative in Cangyuan County, where approximately 200 small-scale producer families, many belonging to ethnic minorities deeply connected to nature, care for tea plants ranging in age from a few centuries to over a thousand years old.
Pu'erh is the tea of long memory: in Yunnan, among the Hengduan Mountains, a subtropical climate marked by dry and rainy seasons, grow the oldest tea trees on the planet, nourished by alluvial soils and the region's numerous rivers, such as the Lancang. The patriarch of these giants, Xiang Zhu Qing, is over 3.200 years old. From these leaves, compressed into blocks for centuries and transported along ancient caravan routes, comes the only great fermented tea: the slow transformation of the leaf develops that earthy, velvety profile that the Chinese compare to the scent of the forest after rain. It's worth remembering that white, green, black, and dark teas all originate from the same plant: it's the terroir, the finesse of the leaf, and the processing that generate a limitless palette of flavors.
In Chinese tradition, pu-erh has always been a daily wellness tea: its natural fermentation makes it extraordinarily smooth and digestible, making it a classic accompaniment to richer meals. Its low caffeine content allows it to be enjoyed throughout the day, even late in the afternoon, without sacrificing the pleasure of a hot cup. Choosing this pu-erh also means supporting a certified ethical supply chain: it is organically grown and WFTO fair trade guarantees that the Fairtrade Premium helps the cooperative's community, hard hit by floods and landslides linked to global warming, by supporting low-income families, funding their children's higher education, and modernizing the production facilities.
Les Jardins de Gaïa has always offered teas and herbal teas from organic cultivation, certified since 1994, and is a certified member of the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization): from leaf to cup, every practice meets the requirements of fair trade.
