The Tap Trap cap has been on the market since 2004.

Since then it has been much imitated and copied for its catching technique and for the do-it-yourself attractive baits, studied and tested for many years. However, it remains one of a kind:

• His specific yellow color, visible from meters away, similar to a ripe fruit, exerts a strong attraction on many types of insects.
• Its crafts was studied and tested both to protect the bait from possible dilutions due to rain, and to reduce evaporation in case of excessive heat. In addition, its bell shape creates a shadow cone and favors the stagnation of the odor of the bait, making it more attractive to insects.

How to Use Tap Trap®

• material:
  • 1,5 Lt plastic bottle (the color does not matter);
  • wire or twine of 25/30 cm;
  • Tap Trap bell cap.

• Hook the Tap Trap bell to the bottle
  • It is preferable to connect the cap to the bottle transversely (from right to left or vice versa), rather than from top to bottom (as is usually done to close a cap on the bottle); make sure that the coupling is successful by turning the bottle in the tap trap sockets;

• Tie the Tap Trap bell to the tree
  • Tie the Trap Trap bell, with the bottle containing the bait attached to it, to the tree (one or two bottles per tree), at a height of about 2 meters, taking care to place the trap to the east (flies and insects always attack the fruit from the east).

Bait preparation

Fill the plastic bottle with the bait according to the insect you want to catch:

1. Hornets and Wasps:

For fruit plants, gardens, vegetable gardens, campsites.

½ liter of beer + 1 tablespoon of sugar;

or: ½ liter of water + 2 tablespoons of sugar;

or: ½ liter of sweet white wine or sweetened with sugar + 20-30 ml of

mint syrup (a nice little glass);

Never exceed half a liter of liquid (beer, water, wine) in each bottle.

Replace tinder every 20-30 days.

2. Fruit fly and Mediterranean fly:

For cherry, olive, walnut, citrus, medlar, apple, pear, etc;

½ liter of classic liquid ammonia (unscented) + 1 sardine (some other fish scraps like 20-30 g of sardines, anchovies, etc. are also fine);

Never exceed half a liter of ammonia in each bottle.

Replace the bait: NO - The effectiveness of the trap is given by the maceration of dead flies inside. Therefore the bait must be replaced only in the case in which no more interested flies are noticed flying around the trap itself

3. Carpocapsia, Moth, Sesia, Moth, Lepidoptera:

For apricot, plum, peach, cherry, almond, walnut, olive tree

1 liter of wine sweetened with 6-7 tablespoons of sugar + 15 cloves + ½ cinnamon.

Leave to macerate for about 15 days, then dilute it in 2-3 liters of water.

Or to get a bait in a short time:

Boil the ingredients for 5-10 minutes.

Use the preparation obtained by pouring half a liter into each bottle.

Replace the bait: every 20-30 days.

4. Flies and Mosconi:

For outdoor environments

½ liters of water + some raw fish waste (20-30 g of sardines, sardines, anchovies).

Never exceed half a liter of water in each bottle.

Replace the bait: NO - The effectiveness of the trap is given by the maceration of dead flies inside. Therefore the bait must be replaced only in the case in which no more interested flies are noticed flying around the trap itself
