History of Spritz Limoncello
Limoncello Spritz is a variant of the classic Spritz, an aperitif cocktail popular throughout the Veneto region.
It was invented in 2005 in Amalfi, from the idea of Salvatore Aceto, producer of the real Amalfi lemon right at the bottom of the valley of the mills, where today it still hosts small groups of people by reservation only.
Quickly becoming popular on the coast, it quickly spread throughout Italy, today one of the most requested aperitif cocktails.
Today, the Limoncello Spritz is a classic of Italy's bar scene and is served in many restaurants and bars around the world.
Amalfino is the official variant of the Amalfi coast, considered the most popular and consumed spritz. Unlike the limoncello spritz, Aperol is not used but only limoncello and Amalfi lemon.
Ingredients:
- 2 parts of Limoncello 60ml
- 1 part juice Amalfi coast lemon 30ml
- 3 parts of Prosecco 90ml
- 1 part Seltz or very sparkling water 30ml
- Ice
- Zest of Amalfi lemon
- Mint (your choice)
Preparation:
- Fill a glass tumbler with ice.
- Pour the prosecco over the ice first, then the limoncello and then the lemon juice
- Lastly add the very sparkling water
- Add and squeeze the lemon zest to decorate and give flavour.
- Mix gently and serve immediately.
