Rinelli Vigneti's Riserva: Cesanese di Affile DOP aged for at least 12 months in French oak, from the white clays of the mountains
Ruby with garnet reflections, spices of pepper, cinnamon and vanilla: robust, intense and enveloping like the slopes that gave birth to it.

Creta is the pinnacle of Rinelli Vigneti's production, and its name is a declaration of love for the terroir: "Creta" (literally, "clay"), like the white clays of Affile, the predominantly clayey soils with a good percentage of limestone and rich in minerals on which the vines, trained using the Guyot and spurred cordon systems, thrive. Harvest is done by hand, from late September to the first ten days of October. In the cellar, maceration on the skins lasts throughout the alcoholic fermentation with daily manual punching down, followed by a long maturation: at least 12 months in French oak barrels, without filtration or fining. This Riserva DOP combines the power of its 15% ABV with the mineral elegance of the mountains.
Affile holds a history few towns can match: it was here—in ancient Enfide—that, according to tradition, the young Benedict of Norcia stayed before retiring to Subiaco, taking the first steps on a journey that would change Europe. And it was precisely the Benedictine monasteries that, over the centuries, protected the viticulture of these valleys. Cesanese di Affile, Lazio's only great red mountain DOP, is the heir to that thousand-year-old history: a demanding and rare grape variety, whose name and home are here. The Riserva Creta is its most profound expression, transformed by time in oak into a liquid memory of the land.
Visual examination: ruby red with garnet reflections.
Olfactory examination: vegetal and dried fruit notes, with spicy hints of pepper, cinnamon and vanilla.
Taste test: Structure and body with lively, light tannins; freshness, complexity, and great flavor, supported by a strong minerality. Persistence and flavor make the wine robust, intense, and enveloping.
Match with: recommended with stewed or grilled red meats and first courses based on meat.
Two families, a village at 684 meters, and vineyards rescued from abandonment: Rinelli Vigneti practices heroic viticulture in Affile, recognized by the Lazio Region, where steel and French barriques enhance grapes grown using regenerative and sustainable practices.
It contains SULPHITES.
