Organic Clementines

  • They are collected with the utmost care so that no fruit can undergo traumas that affect its flavor or conservation
  • They are not washed after harvesting, to prevent humidity from compromising its natural fragrance during transport
  • They are never polished with wax to preserve the natural characteristics of the products.

Organic Clementines History

The first written mention of this plant dates back to 1902

According to some sources, the origin of Clementine was accidental: the first fruit was discovered by Fra Clément Rodier (hence the name) in the garden of his orphanage in Miselkin, Algeria.

In addition, much older plants are assumed to come from China or Japan.

Religious in Algeria introduce this orange-like fruit to the Mediterranean: the main difference is the color of the pulp, which is significantly more orange.

Like an orange, it peels off easily and splits into wedges. On the other hand, it tastes similar, with a sweet and sour balance.

Cultivation of Clementines

The largest plantations are found in Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Spain, Italy (Calabria, Puglia and Sicily).

In the United States, small citrus fruits have been grown since their first commercialization, but it wasn't until 1977 that many Florida orange groves were destroyed by an unusually harsh winter where they had settled.

Mandarin and clemen

Difference between Mandari and Clementine?

Clementine has no seeds. For this reason, the small citrus fruit, more consumed as a table fruit, is also very popular with children.

Another characteristic that makes Clementine the favorite fruit of children and that distinguishes the two citrus fruits is the taste. Clementine is juicy, much sweeter than mandarins, more aromatic and slightly tart.
