Saline Culcasi, Nubia (TP) SICILY

Welcome to a place where time seems to have stopped, where man and nature have collaborated for centuries to create a precious product: sea salt.

The Culcasi Salt Pans, located in the suggestive Trapani and Paceco Salt Pans Nature Reserve, represent an extraordinary example of tradition, biodiversity and human ingenuity.

Riserva del Mare® salt has been cultivated by the Culcasi family for four generations, a tradition of work in the salt mines that has been handed down over time from father to son.

The salt is produced by hand from sea water collected with ecological and sustainable methods in the natural reserve of the salt pans of Trapani and Paceto, managed by the WWF

A Dip into the Past:

The history of Saline Culcasi has its roots in ancient times, when the Phoenicians and Romans recognized the immense potential of this territory. The area, characterized by an ideal climate with strong solar radiation, constant winds and low rainfall, lent itself perfectly to the production of “white gold”.

Over the centuries, the salt pans have been the protagonists of a continuous evolution, passing from the ancient extraction techniques to the wise management of the Culcasi family, who have been able to preserve and enhance this unique heritage.

A Unique Ecosystem:

Saline Culcasi is not only a place of production, but also an oasis of biodiversity. Numerous species of migratory birds find refuge among the salt pans, banks and canals, including magnificent pink flamingos, herons, black-winged stilts and avocets. A delicate and precious ecosystem, which Saline Culcasi is committed to protecting through sustainable and environmentally friendly management.

Salt, Fruit of Tradition and Innovation:

The production of salt at Saline Culcasi follows an ancient process, passed down from generation to generation. The sea water is evaporated in the tanks, thanks to the action of the sun and the wind, until the salt crystallizes. This traditional method, combined with careful selection and processing, gives life to a whole sea salt of the highest quality, rich in trace elements and with an unmistakable flavor.

Production Features:

  • Whole Sea Salt: Unwashed and unrefined, it retains all the precious trace elements of the sea.
  • Manual Harvest: Salt is still harvested by hand, using traditional methods.
  • Windmills: Used to pump water and grind salt, they are a characteristic element of the salt pan landscape.
  • Respect for the Environment: Saline Culcasi is committed to safeguarding the ecosystem, promoting biodiversity and environmental sustainability.

Discover the magic of Saline Culcasi, a place where history, nature and flavor blend together in an unforgettable experience.
