Pierre Chauvin, Anjou(FR) FRANCE

The establishment of the Pierre Chauvin Domain dates back to the first half of the 1859th century, the first lands were purchased in 1812 by the family's ancestor: Pierre COCHARD (1892-XNUMX), five generations have followed since then.

In 1993, Paul-Eric Chauvin and his brother-in-law Philippe Cebron take over the management of the Domain and name it Pierre Chauvin.

Respect for the environment becomes the main concern of the two partners, so much so that they are brought into the 2000 to adhere to the “Terra Vitis” Charter, the only national certification for responsible and lasting viticulture, whose goal for the farmers who join it is:”Producing good wine, in the right way, for today and for tomorrow".

In 2008 decide to convert the entire Dominion to organic farming,
certified by Bureau Veritas, for a first harvest with the AB brand (French organic) in 2008.

Since 2016 Paul-Eric is the sole manager, helped in the vineyards by Philippe.
Today it is with great pride that Paul-Eric carries this forward more than 150 years old family tradition.

The Domain Pierre Chauvin covers 9 hectares in Rablay sur Layon, not far from Angers (France), Loire Valley, land where excellent whites and rosés are produced.

The Layon valley is characterized by its shale soils with gravel on the surface. This type of soil gives the wines a fruity and soft content from their youth. The proximity of the river provides the necessary humidity for the development of "soft mould" or botrytis, which allows the production of sweet and syrupy wines from the Chenin grape variety, the main white grape variety of the Anjou region, whose presence dates back more than a thousand years .

From it the Domain produces on about 5,9 hectares white, dry or fortified, or effervescent.

Reds and rosés are produced from Cabernet franc (2,3 hectares). A small part is cultivated with Grolleau noir (0,5 hectares) and Cabernet Sauvigno (0,3 hectares).

The wines of the Domain Pierre Chauvin come vinified in the most natural way possible, the fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, without corrective oenological products, without adding sugar and with the use
of sulphites in minimal doses. The goal is to accompany the winemaking process without intervening, fully preserving the fruitiness of the grapes and their natural qualities, influenced only by the soil and climate, without artifice.

The range of Pierre Chauvin wines is characterized by finesse and elegance, with fruity notes, great freshness on the palate, in a balanced whole.

Among the wines of the Domain we mention

-Argonettes (Chenin 100%), white and tender;

-Rosé des Dames (Cabernet franc), round and fruity with great freshness.

-Marcotte (Chenin 100%), soft white all freshness and finesse;

Les Vieilles Vignes (Le Vecchie Vigne) (Chenin 100%), fortified wine with complex aromas that condense in the mouth with an explosion of flavours;

Fontaine des Bois (Fontana dei Boschi) (Chenin 100%), vinified for 12 months in oak barrels, it has aromas of white fruits in the mouth it is lively and tonic.
