Unfiltered and unpasteurized golden lager beer with Umbrian chickling peas — 5,7% Vol., 33 cl format
An irreverent name for a legume with legendary fame: the full-bodied taste of an ancient "curse" transformed into a blessing

Maledetta Cicerchia is born from the combination of the mastery of an Umbrian microbrewery and the authentic flavor of grass peas grown in the mountain fields of Monteleone di Spoleto: a golden blonde Golden Ale, unfiltered and unpasteurized, distinguished by its intense aroma and full-bodied flavor. The use of grass peas—an ancient legume, rich in protein and with a bold flavor—gives the beer a unique and unmistakable character, the boldest of the family. The result of a collaboration between Umbrian Master Brewers and a group of young enthusiasts with the aim of creating a beer that reflects the region's identity, with its 5,7% ABV and 33cl bottle size, it is the ideal companion for delicious aperitifs, dinners with friends, and moments of relaxation: a perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
Why "cursed"? Because no legume has a more chiaroscuro legend than the grass pea. Already prized in ancient Rome and considered the secret of farmers' strength, it was the indestructible plant that grew where all else failed: in great famines, when wheat and beans died of thirst, the grass pea saved entire villages—and for this very reason, in peasant folklore, it became the legume of need, the one families ate, grumbling and giving thanks together. A symbol of resilience and industriousness that modern affluence had relegated to oblivion, and which today gastronomy has fully rehabilitated. This beer embraces its nickname with affection and irony: the "cursed" one that saved the crops, finally celebrated in a glass like the heroine it has always been.
Beyond its unmistakable flavor, La Maledetta Cicerchia is a wholesome and authentic beer: unfiltered and unpasteurized, it preserves the live yeasts, proteins, and properties of the grass peas that industrial processing would otherwise lose, along with the full-bodied flavor only authentic craft beers possess. The legume contributes its traditional protein richness and bold character to the recipe, while the 5,7% ABV remains a convivial experience. Produced with the highest-quality ingredients in a unique Umbrian supply chain, each bottle supports the mountain cultivation of an ancient legume: choosing La Maledetta means choosing a unique product steeped in history—and keeping another chapter of that history alive.
Dolci Giuseppina is a family-run farm in Monteleone di Spoleto, the highest municipality in Umbria. On land inherited from their grandparents, at about a thousand meters above sea level, the family grows the famous mountain spelt, along with barley, ancient legumes—including grass pea, the star of this beer—and saffron, in a unique supply chain that reaches all the way to Umbria's Master Brewers.
