Unfiltered and unpasteurized lager beer with 20% Umbrian spelt — 5,6% Vol., 33 cl format
A journey through time through taste: the strength of the gladiator's cereal in the drink that Rome never made

Antico Farro is a blond Belgian Ale that brings to life the flavor and strength of the Apennines' most glorious grain. Brewed with 20% Umbrian farro—grown in the mountain fields of Monteleone di Spoleto—it was born from the idea of creating a beer that would express the region's identity, the fruit of the passion and dedication of a group of young Umbrian Master Brewers who wanted a beer that could convey the history and traditions of their land. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, it stands out for its freshness and drinkability: the farro lends a smooth body and an unmistakable rustic note, in a balance that makes it perfect for any occasion—from a delicious aperitif to a dinner with friends, or even a relaxing moment alone. With its 5,6% ABV and 33cl format, it's tradition and innovation in the same glass.
Farro was the staple food of Roman gladiators: rich in carbohydrates, fiber, and protein, it was considered the secret to their strength and endurance, the fuel that sustained their training in the games and challenges of the arena. But there's a delicious irony in this bottle: the Romans, who lived on farro, snubbed beer—they considered it the drink of the Northern barbarians, unworthy of a wine-loving people. It took two thousand years, and the encounter between Rome's grain and Belgian brewing art, for the beer the Empire never made to be born: the gladiators' farro, finally, in the mug that the legionaries looked askance at from across the Rhine. A historic revenge crafted by young Umbrian brewers, on the same land that supplied the city.
Beyond its unmistakable flavor, L'Antico Farro is a healthy and authentic beer: unfiltered and unpasteurized, it preserves the live yeasts, proteins, and properties of farro intact, which would otherwise be lost through industrial processing—that light haze in the glass is a testament to its authenticity. The 20% Umbrian farro content brings an ancient, nutrient-rich grain to the recipe, unaltered or depleted by modern selections, while the balanced 5,6% ABV keeps it ideal for everyday and convivial drinking. Produced with the highest-quality ingredients in a uniquely Umbrian supply chain, each bottle supports the mountain cultivation of the grain that gives it its name.
Dolci Giuseppina is a family-run farm in Monteleone di Spoleto, the highest municipality in Umbria. On land inherited from their grandparents, at about a thousand meters above sea level, the family grows the famous mountain spelt along with barley, ancient legumes, and saffron—a crop that also becomes beer, thanks to collaboration with young Umbrian master brewers in a uniquely regional supply chain.
