Organic Wulong Jade Tea from Les Jardins de Gaïa

Les Jardins de Gaïa's Organic Wulong Jade Tea is an invitation to indulge: its large, curled leaves, grown in the mountains of Hubei, release a bright yellow infusion with an intense floral fragrance. The name "Jade" describes its nature: a low oxidation process that resembles green teas and gives it pleasant fruity and vegetal flavors, while maintaining the typical roundness of wulong. Each dose of 2 grams per 25 cl of water at 95°C can be reinfused several times, and with each reinfusion the leaves open a little more, revealing new nuances. Certified organic and fair trade, it is a grand cru for those who love elegant and fragrant teas.

The roots of this Wulong Jade Tea are deep in tradition

Wulong, literally "black dragon," is the masterpiece of Chinese tea artisans: a family of semi-oxidized teas suspended between green and black, where the master decides with precise gestures—withering, shaking, rolling—how much to let the leaf transform. In "jade" versions like this, oxidation is stopped early, preserving the leaf's floral and vegetal essence. The leaves come from the Xuan'en Yisheng small-scale producers' cooperative, in the hinterland of Mount Wuling, in the Enshi region. Here, the humidity of the rainforests envelops the tea gardens, springs abound, and shrubs often grow among the rocks, drawing on the minerals of a selenium-rich soil, in an ecosystem that is home to rare species like the short-tailed pangolin. White, green, black, and dark teas all originate from the same plant: it's the terroir, the finesse of the leaf, and the process that create a limitless palette of flavors.

Choosing Wulong Jade Tea means taking care of yourself

Wulong is the tea of balance, even in the glass of health: like any loose-leaf tea, the infusion contains negligible amounts of calories, sugar, fat, and salt, offering the plant's natural assets, with its polyphenols and a moderate, gradually released caffeine, ideal for a clear-headed, jitter-free day. The ability to reinfuse the same leaves multiple times also makes it a sustainable and affordable pleasure. Finally, choosing it means supporting a real community: in an environmental context marked by frequent landslides and floods, the Fairtrade Premium offers producers concrete leverage, having already funded road improvements, new tea processing equipment, and transport vehicles for the cooperative's two factories.
