English Breakfast is perhaps the most iconic tea blend in British culture, the very symbol of the British tea ritual. Born in the 19th century, at the height of the Victorian era, it was conceived as a robust and full-bodied blend, perfect for accompanying the rich and hearty English breakfast—the famous "full English breakfast" of eggs, bacon, and beans. Traditionally, it is served with milk, a custom that also spread to protect the delicate porcelain cups from the heat of the boiling tea. This blend is composed of fine Indian black teas, with a full, malty character. All teas come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis: the processing determines the type, and the fully oxidized black tea develops an intense color and robust aromas. Preparation
