The Pear Kaiser

Ancient origins are French, it was discovered for the first time in the early 1800s, in the forest of Apremont in Haute Saone.

The form it is large and moderately elongated and by a long and strong peduncle.

Matures in late september, after all the other pears. Its color is unmistakable completely rusty, of a beautiful brown that in the sun can become almost gold

The slightly grainy pulp is unique, with a sweet and really good taste.

History of the Kaiser Pear

The Kaiser pear is a pear variety native to Germany, first produced in 1870 by Dr. Wilhelm Lucas Christian von Kaiserslautern, an agricultural engineer from Kaiserslautern, who crossed the Williams and La Abbé Fétel pear varieties to create it.

The Kaiser pear is elongated, with a thick and rough skin, with sweet and juicy pulp with a delicate aroma. It is broad in its resistance to diseases and different temperatures, which makes it one of the varieties appreciated by producers.

Today it is cultivated in many countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy, and is used for the production of fruit juices, jams and preserves.

Pear for cooking

Considered the best pear for cooking.

For its firm pulp which makes it excellent cooked in red wine or served with chocolate.

IN WHICH MONTH DO PEARS RIPE?

La pear it is a climacteric fruit. What does it mean?

As you have seen, there are varieties that are ready for harvesting earlier, others later, but in Italy the time of harvesting pears is concentrated in a couple of months: from mid-July to mid-September.
