The Malandrino Primitivo Rosato of Agricultural art

The Malandrino Primitivo Rosato Organic of Agricultural art Made from Primitivo grapes grown organically in the company's vineyards, just steps from the Margherita di Savoia salt flats in Puglia. The soil—the characteristic Apulian crust, rich in marine minerals—gives the wine strength, flavor, and character. The pressing is light, using whole bunches of grapes, and the fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, without filtration: just stainless steel and patience. Natural by choice, mischievous by vocation, it is a rosé with a bold character, made for those seeking authenticity and human warmth in the glass.

The roots of this Rosato are deep in tradition

Puglia is a historic land of rosé wines, long considered the "homeland of Italian rosé." Here, the Primitivo grape, of ancient origins and likely imported from Dalmatia in pre-Roman times, finds the ideal conditions in the terroir between Foggia and the Adriatic coast to express itself even further in rosé. The Margherita di Savoia salt flats, one of the largest in the Mediterranean, lend the vineyards a distinctive mineral salinity that is faithfully transferred to the wine. Malandrino interprets this heritage in a natural way, rediscovering the wisdom of Puglia's farmers who for centuries have made wine using simple and direct methods, valorizing the grape variety and the terroir.

Choosing Malandrino Primitivo Rosato means choosing natural wine

Il Malandrino is produced strictly according to the principles of natural winemaking: light pressing of whole bunches, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, vinification in stainless steel only, no filtration or clarification, and minimal intervention in the cellar. This approach guarantees a lively, integral wine, deeply expressive of its terroir, with a unique salinity derived from the Apulian crust rich in marine minerals. Its 12% ABV and lively acidity make it the perfect accompaniment to long, convivial evenings. All ARTE products are certified organic and traceable.

Visual Examination

It presents itself in the glass with a pale ruby pink color, more intense and textured than classic rosés, with orange highlights reminiscent of an Apulian sunset. The transparency is clear yet vibrant, a typical feature of unfiltered natural wines that may exhibit light natural haze. The consistency is medium, with defined arches that slowly flow down the glass. The overall appearance immediately conveys character and personality, far removed from standardized commercial rosés.

Olfactory Examination

On the nose, it is complex and captivating, almost macerated by the natural process: rich notes of red fruit emerge—currant, raspberry, wild strawberry—accompanied by sensations of damp earth, undergrowth, and a distinctive hint of spice (pink pepper, cardamom). Allowing it to breathe in the glass, the bouquet is enriched with saline and iodine notes that recall the proximity of the sea salt marshes, as well as delicate floral nuances of dried rose. A bouquet unlike other rosés: frank, authentic, and narrative.

Taste Examination

On the palate, it confirms the "mischievous" character that gives the wine its name: the attack is bold and savory, with a pronounced marine minerality that directly recalls the Apulian "crostone" from which it originates. The finish is structured and juicy, with fruity hints of cherry, pomegranate, and a hint of white fruit. The structure is firmer than that of classic rosés, with well-integrated acidity and medium body. The finish is dry, slightly pungent, and pleasantly persistent, with a savory aftertaste that continually invites another sip. A signature rosé, complex and deeply rooted in its terroir.

Gastronomic pairings

Il Malandrino is a structured and savoury rosé, ideal to accompany long convivial moments and tasty dishes. It expresses itself best with rich Mediterranean cuisineApulian focaccia, artisanal pizzas, eggplant parmigiana, peperonata, Sicilian caponata, grilled vegetables. Excellent with aged cheeses such as pecorino, aged caciocavallo, parmesan and cheeses aged in wine. Perfect companion platters of Italian cured meats, especially corallina salami, sweet raw ham, mortadella, and Viterbo capocollo. Excellent pairing with grilled white and pink meats, roast lamb, stewed meatballs, roasted octopus, and Apulian-style sea bass. It also pairs well with rich pasta dishes made with tomatoes, vegetables, and ricotta. For more daring accompaniments, try spicy ethnic cuisine, lamb tagine, and Middle Eastern curries. Serve chilled at 8-10°C in a large glass to allow the aromas to develop.
