The ancient traditions of Abruzzo give life to this liqueur which comes from the union of Trebbiano DOC wine and the gentian root which grows spontaneously above 1600 metres.

The Legend of the Gentian of the Friars

A Hungarian legend tells that during a great plague, which could not find a solution despite human efforts, an angel appeared in a dream to King Ladislaus the Saint, who told him that as soon as he woke up at dawn, he would have to shoot an arrow into the sky; this would show him the plant to give to his people.

The following morning the King did so and the arrow fell on a Gentian which was immediately administered to the population, as indicated by the angel and the people were saved.

Other legends tell of knights struck by love spells for the beauty of the plant, for the magnificence of its colors and for its charm.

Taste of the gentian of the friars

The characteristic bitter taste of Gentian root meets the velvety and harmonious taste with a pleasantly almond aftertaste of Trebbiano wine.

Traces of any sediments are an indication of authenticity.
