A 100% Arabica single origin coffee
a real rarity

This lot comes from Congo, imported by Makeda Coffee, a company that promotes coffee from North Kivu (Congo), a region afflicted by decades of war, supporting local populations economically. All coffee is produced by small farmers, processed according to clax “washed” process from the Amka cooperative. Amka in Swahili means “Awake”, “Wake up”. The term was chosen to represent a community of small coffee farmers who have decided to revive the coffee culture in this region.
The plantations are located around Lake Kivu, on volcanic soils rich in organic matter, located at a height between 1450 and 1850 meters above sea level, in a temperate tropical climate. This coffee is very precious because it comes from a red zone, a land of conflicts and represents a symbol of resistance of the farmers, who despite everything continue to work, picking the coffee berries manually.
La variety is the “Blue Mountain”. This is a variation of Typica, originally found and grown in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. Over time people started calling it by the name of its home lake: Blue Mountain. Since 1913 it has also been introduced into western Kenya, although it has never been successfully planted elsewhere in Kenya. It is not able to acclimatise to all climatic conditions and tends to retain its gustatory qualities regardless of location.

Arabica coffee is a type of coffee bean that is highly sought after for its unique flavor and aroma.
It is grown primarily in the high-altitude regions of Central and South America, as well as in Africa and some parts of Asia. Arabica beans are known for their gentle acidity, sweetness, and subtle fruit and floral notes, making them a popular choice for specialty coffee roasters and blends.
These beans are often considered a premium product and can be priced higher than other types of coffee. To ensure the best quality, Arabica beans are generally grown in shaded conditions and carefully processed to preserve their delicate flavors.
Many coffee enthusiasts prefer Arabica beans for their complex, nuanced flavor and aroma.
