THE ORGANIC

 

The conversion to organic came a few years later, as a natural continuation of a more ambitious project that has respect for the environment and its protection as a priority, convinced that sustainable agriculture guarantees a future for the generations to follow. .

 

We have therefore abandoned highly polluting cultures, such as tobacco and hazelnuts, to dedicate the entire company area to organic farming.

 

In 1998, together with my wife, we were among the pioneers of the Educational Farms project in Lazio.

THE SOLIDARITY GARDEN

 

The idea of ​​cultivating a vegetable garden in our company is not recent but the definitive momentum to start, took place after the meeting with the agronomist Marco Sciarpa, founding member of the ONLUS Aid for Life, an association committed to promoting social inclusion and fighting poverty, in Italy and in the world.

 

We therefore joined the social agriculture project "Work Dignity Inclusion", funded by Otto per Mille della Tavola Valdese and which aims to offer a job opportunity to people with a history of drug addiction and alcoholism and to people with disabilities, with difficulty in placing themselves on the job market.

 

The guys who take care of the garden come from Ceis San Crispino community of Viterbo and, after completing a training course, they are doing an internship at our company.

 

With them in the garden, even some disabled children of the cooperative Galiana's friends.

 

The last piece of the project, but the most important one, is you, the people who read this short history of agriculture.

 

You are the active part, those who, by choosing us, will allow us to continue the path we have undertaken.

ORGANIC FARMING

 

The Sansoni Agricultural Company is a zootechnical avocation company.

 

Located on the border with the source of the mineral water of Nepi, where the ancient Amerina and Francigena roads cross on ancient paths.

 

Among pastures and woods, cows are raised for the production of organic meat, of pure Charolaise breed and sheep, for the production of milk and cheeses, of pure Sardinian breed.

 

Animals live together in perfect harmony with the environment.

THE CHAROLAISE BOVINE BREED

 

It is a breed suitable for organic meat production: originally from France, it has adapted well to the Italian climate.

 

The Charolaise cows have a strong maternal attitude and their milk has a high fat content that allows the calves to be suckled up to the 6th / 7th month of life, the period in which weaning takes place.

 

The reproductive cycle is entrusted to nature and the bulls are selected to guarantee a high genetic result.

THE SARDINIAN SHEEP

 

Typical of upper Lazio, they are rustic and suitable for the production of milk and organic meat.

 

The characteristics of the pastures of our territory, the biodiversity present and the floristic composition, give a high quality to the milk and meat produced.

 

Herds and flocks are left grazing for most of the year. In the periods of the year when pasture cannot be used, they are fed exclusively with organic forage produced on the farm: maize, cereals, field beans, protein peas and hay are the staple foods of our animals' diet.

 

The animals take shelter at night in the stables.

 

The welfare of our animals is the priority aspect of a farm for the production of organic meat.
