Eat good and sustainable
There was an economist, an engineer and a banker: it may seem like the beginning of a joke, but it is the fundamental opening that made it possible to conceive and launch the “AlPassoFood” project.
A story born in Rome and its province, thanks to the love for healthy and genuine food of Max and Emmanuel, twin brothers, economist the first, engineer the second, who starting from their habit of relating with small local producers have thought of overcoming the difficulties linked to the pandemic and the absence of work by creating a start-up that deals with the distribution of food products.
"We have always been used to stocking up on small local producers and therefore during the lockdown period, finding it difficult to satisfy our request as not all producers are equipped with their own means for home delivery, we had the idea of creating a distribution company of their products ”Max confides in us.“ We live in the Roman suburbs and once a week we bought fruit and vegetables directly from producers. Due to the lockdown many were confused and did not know how to distribute their products and we therefore thought of creating a portal, incorporating all the producers and little by little the project grew ".
And so, having found the third partner (the banker), the boys launched into this challenge which also allowed them to cope with the lack of work (Max ran a B&B) to pursue a very specific goal: "We want to change the way of eating, we want to accustom people to seek and buy only healthy and genuine food ”.
After the launch in the first phase, the students tried to expand the network of producers to be involved, to try to intercept the growing interest of consumers in quality, niche products. Over time, the number of producers who have joined the initiative has therefore expanded, as has the number of products offered. Good and sustainable eating is now possible.
The producers presented other producers, all united by the passion for their work and the love for their products, strictly natural, organic and biodynamic.
A sort of word of mouth that has made it possible to expand the offer but also the number of customers, making AlPassoFood (acronym for “Nutrition for Passion”) grow.
“We started by delivering the first crates with our car, with the first earnings and thanks to the financial help of our family, we were able to buy a refrigerated van, this allowed us to supply some restaurants in the area as well”.
A distribution network that has grown thanks to the agreements reached with various couriers, which today allows young people to offer hundreds of genuine, sustainable products that respect the rhythms of nature, which are delivered directly by them to Rome and the Province and shipped throughout Italy and all over the world. abroad with specialized couriers. Good and sustainable food at km0.
“Launching ourselves in this enterprise has also allowed us to discover new agricultural dynamics, to see new generations approach the land to cultivate it, giving continuity to the work of their parents and grandparents”.
A link, that between young people and agriculture, can also be found in the purchase requests that arrive on the portal.
"We are pleasantly surprised by the growing number of young people interested in healthy food: they not only want to buy and consume genuine products, but they also want to get to know small farms". There is a desire for organic, natural, to consume better and sustainable.
"People are once again interested in understanding food, not eating it passively, when they try fruit and vegetables grown in the right way they never go back, because tasting nutrient-rich foods, characterized by true and authentic flavors is a fundamental experience".
